1950's fashion

 1950's Woman's Wear

Hi! So I've decided that over the summer holiday i'm going to do a project on fashion through the Eras.
I've always had a particular liking with the 1920's and 50's. Here are some of the photos i've gathered.

The fifties are known for their fun flared knee length skirts and tiny clinched in waists, which all helped enhance the hour glass figure (this was for younger woman). In modern fashion the same technique of emphasising the waist to give off a more curvy feminine shape is also used; hence the use of high waisted skirts, shorts and elasticated belts.

However the fifties also had a very classy, elegant side to it. which often consisted of tailored, fitting clothing. A popular trend among slightly older woman were the pencil skirt (not tube skirt!) this also defined a woman's body. Shawl collars, boat necks, round necks, halters and strapless tops were also a big fashion.
