MODERNISM



B A U H A U S 


Staatliches Bauhaus was a german school  which was founded by Walter Gropius. It started in 1919 and was closed in 1933 due to pressure from the nazi regime. 

this is the school in Dessau.

Ludwig Mies van de Rohe was the third (and last) architect director of BAUHAUS from 1930 to 1933. He called his buildings 'skin and bones' and often used the phrase "less is more'.

These are some of my favourite examples of modernism. 
For me the 1920's was one of the best eras; party dresses were stunning and detailed and the architecture was very sleek, modern and ingenious.
